The East Sussex Schools individual championships were held at St Leonards Academy on Wednesday 1^st February. There was a great atmosphere and 50 players involved. The winners now have an opportunity to go on to the national schools table tennis individuals finals.

High performing TT youngsters in the North Sussex area can apply to funding schemes in their area designed to meet the needs of emerging young talented sportspeople.

The West Sussex Schools TT Association is promoting its 2011-12 individual championships which will run on 18th February at Warden Park School, Cuckfield, 10am-4pm. Winners will go on to represent West Sussex at the Dome in Doncaster on 21st April.

Westlake House on Pondtail Road, Horsham is the latest residential care home to get the ping pong bug under Horsham District Council's Silver Pingers project. Seven of their residents participated using the equipment that Council staff imported for the morning.

Sussex County Table Tennis Association is running a 2 Star Senior tournament on the 26^th February 2012 at K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley. The tournament is sponsored by Heritage Oil, Ray Hole Architects, Griffin Security & Technology and Tees Sports.

The West Sussex Schools Table Tennis Association in partnership with Mid Sussex Active, Marlow Sports and Tees Sport has created a new coaching/development officer post which will start soon.

The West Sussex Schools Table Tennis Association sent four teams to the Zone Finals at Morpeth School today and despite only one team progressing to the Regional Stage from it all teams gave a good account of themselves.

DC Leisure is re-promoting its Friday Junior Table Tennis session which runs at Steyning Leisure Centre, 6.30-7.30pm under the tutelage of local coach Steve Denman.

22 players took part in a Development Competition in Horsham on 3rd December in Forest School. At first there were two Bands A and B, but after the initial groups, Band B was split into Bands B and C. This was not possible at first, as it was not obvious which bands in which to place the players.

The latest Sussex circuit event had a nearly 40% increase in attendance from the previous one with 55 youngsters competing throughout the day. Once again there was a strong Band A field with several county players participating.

Details for the 2012 Sussex Closed Championships have just been released by organiser, Steve Pound, meaning yet more quality table tennis activity is to be witnessed at K2, Crawley.

K2 Crawley, operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Crawley Borough Council, is delighted to be hosting the Heritage Oil and Tees Sport Sussex Series Two Star Junior Girls table tennis tournament on Saturday, January 14.  This competition promises to be fast-paced and exciting with the strongest EVER field of 12 nationally and internationally acclaimed young players lined up to face each other.

The East Sussex Schools Individual Table tennis championship form is now available. Venue is St Leonards Academy and the dates are Under 13,16,19 Wednesday 1st February 3.30-8.30pm - boys and girls; Under 11 Wednesday 22nd February 3.30-7pm - boys and girls.

Organiser Tim Holtam is inviting more entries from around the county for the next meeting of the Brighton Junior League at Brighton University Sports Centre next Tuesday evening.

Young players at the Sussex Junior Elite Centre in East Grinstead recently received input from sports scientist, Tim Holder, who has previously worked with the England Mens Table Tennis Team, on the subject of goal-setting. Setting personal goals in the right way is a vital ingredient for keeping motivated and if all you set your sights on is winning you may be setting yourself up for a TT career of disappointment!

East Sussex school team events have taken place and winners will now go on to the zone finals on Sunday January 15^th in Tower Hamlets, London.

The West Sussex Schools Table Tennis association has just announced the date of its individual championships to be Saturday 18th February.

Tanbridge House School (Horsham) U13's boys team and Sackville School (East Grinstead) U16's boys will represent West Sussex in the zone stages of the English Schools Team Championships after winning their play-off matches.

Brandon Duke and Sarah Hill have organised a fortnightly Ping Pong event at Elwyn Jones Court, sheltered accommodation for the elderly on Carden Avenue in Brighton. The two year 11 school pupils and Brighton City TTC members are doing it for their GCSE Active Citizenship project.
